Greetings from the Gold Coast!
We arrived on a Saturday morning and checked into our hostel which was right near to the hustle and bustle of things. Our first two nights we shared with two dutch twin sisters and spoke about Big Brother etc, then we shared for two nights with a Swedish couple and then our last two nights we shared with two Chinease (they dont talk!!).
This time we took to buying our own food and cooking it in the communal kitchen - on the first part of our travels (before getting to Perth) we were always eating out but we didnt have money to spare second time round! It was actually ok........once we found a clean tea towel!
Our days were spent at the theme parks - Wet n Wild, Movie World and Sea World. It was a bit - dare I say - cold at Wet n Wild but we coped and had a really good time. Movie World was also really good and we saw the last but one stunt show of "Police Academy" - this was a really good show and there was a warm up guy when the audience were coming to their seats - he was really funny. Sea World was the best one. The dolphin show was amazing and the sea lions were funny in their show. There was a chance to have some time with the dolphins in the water but we just didnt have the time to spare. However......we decided to treat ourselves to a helicopter ride! We did a 5 minute (it wasnt cheap) tour of Sea World and a bit of the coast along it. It was really good. although the pilot said we could talk but neither of us did throughout the whole journey - we were too scared!
On the Sunday we met the Royal family who we first met on the day trip in Fiji. It was great seeing them again and they showed us around Brisbane and treated us to lunch which was great!! We hope to see them again.
On the Wednesday we went to a distant relatives of mine (Grace). It took us 2 1/2 hours to get their by train and bus! They are my great great grandmother's great niece and nephew. It was really interesting to meet them and hopefully we can keep in touch and swap information. They were really welcoming to us and we had a lovly day with them.
After our 6 nights in the Gold Coast, we said goodbye to the golden sandy beaches, and headed off to our next destination - Christchurch, New Zealand.
Speak to you all soon - keep up with the messages we check them regulary.
Love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxx
