Today's forecast was rain. Lucky though, it didn't predict it right! It was a fabulous hot day, and we made the most of it. We went out for a walk into town in the morning, and around to the second beach, but it was pretty boring, so we went home. It was a lot more boring back at the room. So I found the walking track guide, and thought it was a good idea to do a nature trail.
Out of all 4, we choose the one that only went for 30mins each way, and not 2 and a half hours. We walked out of the hotel, and went across the road, where we stumbled across a 700m trail. Why not, we will start with that! It was very green, and as soon as we got in the shade of the trees, the temperature dropped about 8 degrees. It was brilliant. The walk was quite pleasant, it wasn't too steep or had stairs so we were happy. We got to the top and the coolest thing was there! Besides the views, there was a big, round trampoline! We hit the jackpot! We got on and jumped for ages, like little kids. I miss having a trampoline!
We continued down, and went to find the original track, which was called 'Opua Forest Lookout Track'. It was a bit of a distance from our hotel, but that didn't bother us much. We found the track, and walked into the forest of green. Again, the temperature dropped. I don't know about you, but I love the feeling of the cold wind on your skin, making it freezing.
The first part of the walk was good, there were cute little bridges over the rivers and mini waterfalls, and it was lovely being away from the burning sun. Then the hills started. They weren't so lovely. But we continued, and went around another corner thinking it couldn't get worse. Then BOOM! our dreaded enemy.. STAIRS!!!! A whole 3 of them! They got worse though; don't think I'm exaggerating haha.
We got to the top, and the views of the bay were nice. Kristy and I decided to sit on the bench for a while, but we started to get really cold due to the sweat and the cool breeze, so we made our way back down, while talking about moving to Byron Bay to open a cafe, and have pet bunnies for the children to play with.
After we got back home, we were exhausted. We decided to change the time we spend at our hotels to less time at each, so we fixed up that and changed all our bookings for the buses. Then it was time for dinner, re-packing.. again.. and writing postcards and in our diary's!
Tomorrow we go to Rotoura, apparently it smells like rotten eggs.....
