Today was a travelling day - sad to say goodbye to the Hammock Island Loft on Thesen Islands, but more than happy that 'we're not going home'!
The next stage of our holiday involved a trip to Addo and it's elephant park.
SatNav lady said three hours - and she was dead right - but we added half an hour with a stop-off in Jeffery's Bay and lunch right on the beach with toes in the ocean,
When we arrived at the Woodall Country Hotel Kate had no idea what I'd arranged - we were shown onto the veranda for drinks on arrival overlooking a small lagoon populated with amazing birdlife - bright iridescent Kingfishers and orange finches in the reeds - and boy was it hot.
Then we were taken to our suite - I've been planning this trip for more than six months and I knew this would top the lot - 5 Star Luxury.
Our suite consisted of three rooms, a bathroom with roll-top bath and giant wet-room shower, an outdoor double shower - and the piéce de resistance - it's own private pool - delicious.
The hotel had pulled out the stops and provided welcome Champagne, chilled to perfection, and a bed to get lost in.
Then, to cap that, I'd arranged a Sundowner Safari Drive in the Elephant Park - where we saw Kudu, Warthog, Jackal, Buffalo and a Boomslang - the most venomous snake in South Africa - fortunately at a safe distance.
Then we returned to dinner in our room
A fabulous day.
