Woke to a fabulous view from our bed - across Hermanus Harbour. Barry, the manager, told us the best month for whale watching is October - last year there were over 140 whales in the harbour - a definite return journey booked!
Then, after a delicious breakfast in lovely surroundings, we packed up the car and headed towards Knysna.
Our SatNav said 345 kilometres - and 4 hours of driving - gulp.
Our journey crossed vast - and I mean vast - tracts of farm country with literally millions of acres of wheat fields. Why can't we feed the world when there's this much productive land?
Then, about 100km from our destination we entered the lake district.
From Mossel Bay in the west to Port Elizabeth in the east is a beautiful section of this coast that is a tourist playground - gotta bring Karen & Martin here - just for the sailing - as Jude & Dave might say 'awesome'.
We reached Knysna at about 4pm and checked into an idyllic apartment on Thesen Islands - check it out you'll be amazed - total relaxation with stacks to see and do - so off to the bar for a sundowner on a lovely balmy evening.
