Jour dix-sept... Day 17...
My last full work day at LG and a long one at that. As per usual I started off in my overalls. I finally finished up my painting of the three rooms I had been working on, plastering and sanding etc. I felt a great deal of satisfaction to see a physical product of my work here. My volunteer experience has proven to me that I am strong and able to do whatever I am enthusiastic and willing to do.
After I had showered and washed my last bits of paint and plaster out of my hair I designed a leaflet for an upcoming event that is happening here over the summer. Hopefully it was of some help to the project manager Paul and I cannot wait to see all the snaps from the night. It sounds like it will be fun, if only one could be wherever they wanted whenever they wanted.
In the afternoon I helped my fellow volunteers in weeding and mostly just had a laugh with each other while we worked. It's such a laid back environment here where you can just chat and work at your own pace, however you feel like.
As it was my last night a lovely Australian volunteer who I have grown so close to over my time here, got a bottle of Champagne and let me pop it open. Another thing I had never done, surprise, surprise- the sheltered life of Aisling Moloney-. As it is everyday, and particularly when Clare cooks, we had a tasty, scrumdidilyumptious evening meal, yummmmm! J'ai dégusté chaque bouchez !
Since it's a thursday and it's Brossac we headed down to the lake for a free concert that is a weekly happening here during July. We sipped drinks watching the sun set over the lake and an end was put to my almost last day here.
Coming home to pack brought all this into reality for me. Literally feels like I have only been here three or four days, it has happened all in a flash and I think it will be a few days until it all sinks in that it has happened.
Right now I need to focus on the French rail system for tomorrow which always keeps you guessing.
À demain,
Aisling xx
