Day 18...
Well the first half,
Here I am standing at the train station where I am switching trains to Bordeaux and saying my last goodbyes to a fellow volunteer who is on their own journey to Périgueux. Saying goodbye to new friends is always promising, hoping you see them again is a common feeling and knowing you have made an unusual and important friendship is too. Also I'm feeling weary from last nights goodbyes and awaiting my hellos back home. Travel can be the best and worst at times but always memorable.

Plus tard...
I am now sitting in the auberge de jeunesse in Bordeaux. I have just had a wonderful afternoon of strolling around this beautiful city exploring and site seeing. It was an unbearable 35 degrees today so I hopped in and out of shops, trying to remind myself that I have very little money to spend ! Also I was resourceful, as the French are, and I sat outside the apple store to use some beautiful fast wifi.
I enjoyed a quiet and filling meal of good ole reliable fish and chips. I know many people will think I am so bad for not trying the french cuisine more often but I am so overwhelmed by the fact that I don't actually know what is in any of the dishes I just can't deal. I honestly just wanted food, I didn't want to get out my dictionary to decide what to have.
I realised how much I loved this amazing city when I got to the Place de la Bourse with Le Miroir d'eau. It is breath taking and such a fun place to be, I have never felt the true French ambiance and joie de vie more than I did today there.
I really have had such an incredible time travelling (incredeeeble ;) ;) incroyable ! )
Literally just now a guy started to talk to me at the auberge, We chatted in French and he was able to understand me! Wooohooooo ! Also he asked me about political parties in Ireland so I really better read up as I knew very little when he asked me about right and left wing. I haven't needed to know up until now, unfortunately I have entered the adult world and I should know these things.
I am so absorbed in this travelling and exciting vibe here in the hostel that I'm already hypothesising city hopping for inter-railing. France is some craic, I will be back !
Sitting here in my hippie pants a changed multicultural girl I am fairly contented and proud of myself for doing all this. Is that not why one would do something like this? Oui, bien sûr !
À demain,
Aisling xxxxx
Gros bisous de ma famille et de mes amis qui lisent le blog tous les jours!

Maree J. Oui, you should be proud of yourself! What an adventure you have had...and what a joy you have been to others. It has been a pleasure to have met you and also to share a French (or somewhat English ) experience with you. Hopefully we will meet again in the future either in Ireland or Australia...OR somewhere else! x M
Aine f. Tu as l'air de t'être vraiment bien amusée Aisling. Bravo!
