Bonjour!
I just got back to Evry from Brussels. I miss Brussels already! We went to the European Commission this morning and we were given a two-hour lecture by Mr. Ludo Tegenbosch. He started out by explaining the European institutions and finished by telling us about the action that the European Commission took when exiting the EU from crisis. It was pretty cool to be able to say I went to the European Commission. We had to go through security to get in and sat in a big lecture hall with stadium type seating with desks. It was pretty interesting and I learned how many different groups of people make up the commission. There are the councils, boards, and other groups that make up the commission. We also learned about who are the important people in the commission. It was not nearly as exciting as the trip to the Parliamentarian museum yesterday, but it was cool getting to experience something I would not have been able to otherwise.
Unfortunately we didn't get much free time after the lecture, but Erin, Nicholette, Kayla, and I made sure to find time to get Belgian chocolate after grabbing a quick lunch. We stumbled upon a chocolatier called Neuhaus. It was even better than Godiva. The chocolate melts in your mouth and was absolutely to die for! It makes me so happy that I can now say I have had chocolate from real chocolatier shops in Geneva, Switzerland, Brussels, Belgium, AND Paris, France! I wonder if I could ever get a job as an international chocolate test taster…I've decided that would be the best job ever! After eating the most delicious chocolate, we had to get back on the squished, uncomfortable bus; but it's 4th of July so it is a great day regardless. J
We finally made it back and I just finished unpacking my suitcase. I am about to head up to my friend's room to meet up with everyone going to Rome so we can book our hostel. Yeah, we are procrastinators clearly since we need the hostel for tomorrow night! To celebrate 4th of July later tonight, we are all going to the bar on campus to hang out with everyone and play card games, listen to music, and the boys want to drink a few beers. It has been a great day and I wish I could have stayed in Brussels one more day! On the bright side though, I head to Rome tomorrow!!
Countdown to Rome: less than 24 hours!!
Ciao,
Tori
