So its officially my last week in the UK since my final is a week from today and I leave for Venice next Saturday. So far I have mixed emotions because I don't want to leave London and all the great friends I've made here but I'm so excited to be traveling (especially with my sister) and I do miss all the awesome people back home/in Boston. So basically I wish I could be in like 4 places at once which I realize is very unrealistic. I've been pretty busy since my midterm on Wednesday, which by the way went okay. I say that because I still have no concept of how they grade over here and it really just depends if I wrote enough/what they were looking for. The exam lasted 2 hours and I had to answer 3 out of 8 questions but then I pretty much just wrote for the entire 2 hours and filled up the entire booklet. I had like 2 minutes in the end to make sure I did everything I could so I guess we'll see when I get my score back on Tuesday.
After my exam was over, I walked down to the West End (which my dorm is practically in) and got tickets for les miserables (a musical that I've wanted to see for soo long). I got 3 tickets for myself, Anh and Nicole then just walked around the Covent Garden area which I absolutely love. But then of course it started to rain and I didn't bring my raincoat so I just headed back to my dorm and made some pasta for lunch cause I was starving!I wanted to go and do something fun but then the rain picked up and I decided that was just silly to think I would want to go out in that weather so I took a very large nap. On Tuesday night I didn't get a lot of sleep (big surprise) so it was nice to get caught up on sleep and not have to set an alarm. Then I woke up, got ready and ate whatever pasta was leftover from lunch and went to happy hour with Nicole. I had a Pimm's which is probably the most delicious drink over here! I don't exactly know what Pimm's is (I think its just a liquor) but they make a mixed drink with tons of fresh fruit, lemons, limes, mint and then either sprite or lemonade and it's absolutely delicious. If I can bring back a bottle, I definitely will because everyone should try it. Sorry for the digression but it was necessary. Anyways, then we met up with Anh who was getting dinner with some friends and went to the show which was absolutely amazing! Although our seats were in the very back of the theatre, we were able to see everything and we were close to the bathroom so we didn't have to wait in the queue (the British word for line). Also I bought a program, since I have one from every show I've been to, and it was only 5 pounds! That's super cheap compared to the programs that are like $20-30 back in the USA. Probably the first thing that I've seen that's cheaper over here than at home. So I really enjoyed the show and I hope that I'll be able to get cheap tickets for another show sometime next week.
Then we met up with some friends at Tiger Tiger which is a bar/club we went to last Wednesday. They play a lot of American music and it's always a good time. We stayed until they shut the music off which was around 2:30am, then went to Burger King and walked back to our dorm.I actually got to talk to a few people who I hadn't heard from in a while which was really nice then I went to bed because I was completely exhausted.
On Thursday I had lecture from 10-1 which was actually pretty interesting- we were learning/talking about sustainability which is something I don't know a whole lot on but I'm definitely interested in. After lecture, my 3 Italian friends invited me to go to St. Paul's Cathedral with them so of course I went. I the cathedral has a huge dome and you can walk up to different platforms and see pretty much the entire city! Its over 500 steps up and 500 steps down so I definitely got a work out. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera because we went right from class and I didn't know they were going until I got to class. But Elisa had a camera so I will get the pictures from her. Then me and Valeria just went to the library before our class at 4pm to do some reading. After class I came back to my dorm and did some reading. I took like a 15 minute nap and then went over to Deborah, Elisa and Valeria's dorm for some authentic Italian food. They assured me it wasn't their best considering the grocery store was limited on their supply of Italian food but I thought it was amazing! After dinner a few of us went with some of their friends to karaoke which was a blast! There were like 10 of us and we got our own room/booth that we could choose the songs and whatnot. They also had a "thirsty" button so that you can just have the bartender come to your room and bring you a drink which I think is a fabulous idea. After the hour was up, we decided to head back to our dorms because it was around midnight and I didn't get a lot of sleep on Wednesday night.
Today I have class again from 10-1 and then 4-5 so I'll probably just go to the library (yes the actual library with books) in between and then I'm sure we will be going out a lot this weekend. We haven't figured out exact plans but we're definitely going to Buckingham Palace! Okay well I'm going to be late for breakfast/class but happy Friday everyone and I will be uploading pictures soon :)
