Captain Tom's Voyage of Discovery
Howdy. Decided to go to Sentosa Island today. It was originally called 'island behind which lies death'
but has managed to shake of that label and is now a semi-cheesy tourist resort. You can take a cable car to get there. I looked like such a tourist, taking about 30 pictures in the little cable car but managed to get some good ones which I will upload soon.
Whilst on the Island, I walked along the 'nature trail through the land of the dragons'. Ok, I told you it was cheesy.
After that, I went to Siloso fort which us Brits built back in the 19th Century. It wasn't the best fort as the guns were pointing completely the wrong way when the Japanese invaded during WWII! I spent far too long looking at all the displays etc so am now a bit of an expert on the History of the fort and the Japanese invasion of Singapore - sad I know but I am about to study History!
The plan was to go and chill on the beach for a few hours but guess what happened? It started to chuck it down. Managed to take cover so didn't get too wet. After the rain stopped, I went up the 'Carlsberg SkyTower'. Got some more pictures from Singapore's highest viewing point - so I was told.
Well I am now back on Orchard Road. Getting pretty hungry so going to go to a Hawker Center and grab me some 'chicken rice'. Then possibly a trip to Raffles to get my Singapore Sling.
All the best, TOM
