After the castle we went to Tintern Abbey, which was an old church Which had no roof and other buildings. It was right on the edge of the Wye River and was huge. A lot of it has fallen down but you could tell how big it was by walking around it. There were some tombstones on the ground in the church which must have been hundreds of years old. They started building there in 1191. The church there today dates from 1269 and lots of monks and other people worked there.
There were little daisies growing everywhere and I sat down and made a daisy chain for mum which she wore as a crown.
We had lunch across the road at the Anchor Inn and then we went for a walk. We crossed the bridge over the river and decided to keep walking which was much longer than we thought. There were signs for Offa's Dyke in 1 mile so we went towards that not quiet sure what we were looking for. The path took us up a very step and slippery hill which was hard going for mum in her thongs. When we got to the top and walked a bit more we realised we were walking on the dyke and that the 1 mile had been met way back! We walked on to the Devils pulpit which had amazing views back towards the Abbey and the town. You can see the Abbey in the background of the photo between Dad and I. So as tough as the walk was, the view was worth it. Then we had to walk all the way down again.
Then we grabbed some stuff to cook dinner and Dad took us to a place to go for another walk to find some millstones, but the grass, stinging nettles and blackberries were so overgrown, we could not see any so went back to the little pub called the Boat Inn and Darcy and I had a lemonade and Mum and Dad had a cider. Then we came back to our cabin, mum cooked dinner and Dad took us over to the pool for a swim.
