After Salsibury we went to Old Sarum which was up on a hill above Salisbury. It was the original town/ fort and later the people moved to Salisbury near the river and rebuilt their town.
The old fort was great and I got to run around on all the lawn and roll down the slopes. William the Conqueror set it up and used to call all the important leaders in the land to meetings there to keep the country United especially against the Vikings.
There was a Great Tower, a Palace ( with toilets!) inside the main area and in the outer ring the village and big cathedral. You could walk all around both the mote like features and there were a lot of people walking their dogs and just strolling about.
Nearby was an airfield and we saw many planes of skydivers above us.
It was nice to be at an old site where you could run around and not worry about making noise or running into anything.
