It really brings home how big the RWC is as an international event for New Zealand. To see how the country has embraced the opportunity. Fan zones, free wifi zones, free trains/buses and there is a dedicated Fan Trail that leads through the city out to Eden Park. There are events on across the city, flags, friendly people - brilliant and we have not seen a match yet.
The Fan Zone promises lots of things to see and so that was to be our route tonight. But then we had a nap, rushed up to buffet for a snack and decided to get the train. We will walk tomorrow when we are more interested in who wins the game.
Dad thinks "IRB got it right in allocating RWC venues not solely on ability to draw largest crowds. How events like this impact countries without the scale of tourism, ease of access or as emerging rugby nation, are all important. No doubt the NZ RWC will have much more impact on the locals than the impact that the next RWC has when it comes to England in 2015."
Yawn zzzz. Anyway enough of my Dad's input, I just think NZ is Awesome and so are the people and their rugby team.
