Waka Voyage & treaty grounds.
No rugby til Friday, so time to see other parts of NZ, tenders off boat at 8am, have done hour in gym and had shower and breakfast. Sounds like an early start but we slept from 2pm yesterday with an hour break at 10pm to eat! With all the travel and matches being so late we do not have a bedtime, just sleep when nothing happening!
So about the trip, well first we met someone from St Ives, Phil Allen and someone else from Cornwall. Big thing though was that I was chosen as chief of our group . . . It started with us rowing a Maori boat to a special area and then being challenged by their chief. Part of that challenge was to identify one of our group to pick up the challenge, give a speech to reply to the Maori chief and to sing a song. Well that was me and from what dad heard the others said I did it very well.
Then we had lunch in a hotel and did a tour of treaty grounds, (signed 6/2/1840 between Britain & NZ). Lady was dull and so was content, so had a boring couple of hours. Highlight was at start where we had to do another challenge with a Maori chief. The group put me forward, she came back with "he is too young, he will have to give a speach & sing". Everybody fell about laughing, our shared secret . . .
