Days 23 Aug-5 Sept '15, So quiet... and then so busy! The end of August sees summer end in Spain so swiftly it's like ringing a bell. Crazy traffic as everyone gets on the road to drive home on the same day and no doubt frantic scenes at the airport too. Oddly enough, after one of the hottest and most humid summers on record here in southern Spain, it's finally gotten cooler. Almost to the minute that August clicked into September. Of course by cooler I mean we get the odd day under 30 degrees and overnight is now consistently around 22 degrees - cold enough to shut the windows and use a light quilt. And socks. And make the Nutella solidify. Yes! That cold! In any event, we've been amusing ourselves with trips to the markets, popping out for coffee and cakes (see picture - only €2.90 / A$4.50) and even spent a whole day planning out our 4 weeks in Fethiye, Turkey (prior to the start of our next housesit in late October). Somewhat like washing the car and watering the garden just before it pours down. Anyway - a couple of days ago whilst browsing the housesit offerings, I saw a last minute gig in Cyprus come up - late September to mid October. Hmmmm I thought - probably cost an arm and a leg even if we can change our flights. Hmmm... heck... why not. Cyprus has been on our wishlist for a while now and it would be rude not to try. So anyway, after seemingly 24 hours of being constantly online - we're in! Flights changed to head to Athens, snappy 3 days sight-seeing as much as we can, then off to Cyprus for a month. We'll be looking after a couple of cute rescue doggies just outside Larnaca then from there, straight on to Fethiye for 2 months. We have no idea what we're doing for Christmas yet - but have a couple of weeks accommodation on booking.com lined up in frosty Romania if nothing else comes up out of the blue. Then (I know, I know - lots of "then" news today), we're off to south-west France into the Poitou-Charentes region. A little hamlet about 30 minutes from Cognac and only a couple of hours from the friends I made down that way last year. And that sees us out to March 2016. So a mixture of long-term planning and short-term spontaneity = utter magic. Today's album has some photos of our pets-to-be - Enjoy!
