Day 116, 6 October 2014 - The Feria, she begins! I'd pottered about during the day, found a bar making fruit smoothies (yes - as rare as you'd imagine), had a siesta and headed out at 9.15 pm to walk to the fairground - usually the site of the Tuesday and Saturday markets. Tonight all the casetas were opened up and serving drinks, food, music to the masses. A lot of business networking is done in the club rooms during Feria - a real religious/social/family fun week of the year in every Spanish town. The lights weren't on - perhaps a mechanical hitch (stay tuned for those photos tomorrow night) - but it was still all the fun of the fair on Spanish steroids - loads of rides, side shows and food, food everywhere - from the sublime (see little piggy photo) to the ridiculous - my bargain, anti-crisis hamburguesa - bun/meat/lettuce/onion/tomato and sauce for a grand total of €1. Even tasted great as I wrangled camera with one hand and burger with the other. Had been hanging for a burger but simply unable to pay €4 plus for one when a 3 course meal a the Chinese or a buffet breakfast is only €6. The anti-crisis burger is the one for me. Walked around for almost two hours enjoying the carnival magic. Can't wait to go back tomorrow night and see the feria lights switched on!
(PS - for the "after" version of little piggy - see the photo album for today. I'd say it smelled terrible... but I'd be lying.)
