So Long Marianne
Well you know that I love to live with you,
But you make me forget so very much.
I forgot to pray for the angels
And then the angels forgot to pray for us.
Leonard Cohen
Take This Waltz
There's a bar where the boys have stopped talking
They've been sentenced to death by the blues

Last night in the albergue was the worst night yet! The loud chorus of snores rocked the room. The effects of a good drinking session were now clearly evident. Every time someone moved in bed the steel framed bunks rattled. As if all that wasn't bad it was a very cold night, and my sleeping bag liner was insufficient. Yet right now this is where I need to be very grateful to be here, walking the camino.
As I twist and turn in bed trying to hide from the noise pollution surrounding me I realise in the darkness that this is the 21st of June, the dawning of the summer solstice. This is a day that holds many memories for me. I can't allow the noise surrounding me to foul my humor so I decide to get up and celebrate the dawning of the summer solstice. Sadly there is no sun this morning and I am greeted by a light drizzle as I leave the albergue into the town square of Larrasoana.
I dance alone to a 5Rythms playlist I have put together for about an hour, as the morning darkness turns to light. I notice a few timber shutters being opened as locals peep to see what's going on; thankfully the men in white coats never arrive!
About 7am ten of us set off on foot to Pamplona. There is the four girls (Sarah, Siobhan, Rachael & Emma) & two priests from Cork (Con & Alan), 2 girls (23) from New York (Kate & Libby) and a guy from Boston (Patrick) (26).
The rain teams down nonstop all the way to Pamplona reminding me of a very wet day 27 years ago today. That's for another journal not this one. I end up walking most of the trail with the 3 Americans, all of similar age to my own children! Regardless of the rain, I really do enjoy the company, the fun and the serious stuff along the way!
Gladly the rain dried up shortly after we finished the walk which allowed us to do some sightseeing in Pamplona!
Buen Camino

Lucia What a vision TP, you dancing with your earphones in an empty street -I love it!! I can hardly believe it! what roads you have travelled to be able to be that free and brave... I watched the sunrise in a very special place in Limerick with Martin and some friends, the clouds blocked the sunrise, but by 5.30, the sun peeped through the trees into the stone circle. Moments to cherish. Much love to you on your journey XX
