The Red Wheelbarrow

A now almost customary 6 am rise, everyone silently goes about there morning routine in preparation of today's hike. We set off at 7 am for a long walk approx 30 km. It is a lovely morning out, cool and very pleasant! I walk with Anny Sandra for the first couple of hours! Our first stop is the 'Fuente De Vino' just before 8am where red wine and water are freely available on tap!! As we move through the day I walk with Rachael, Sarah & Emma. All three are due to fly home today as their week on the Camino. As we approach Los Arcos, Emma has a major shift in thinking and after some serious soul searching and talking, Emma decides that she is going to stay on and try and walk to Santiago! This she tells me is going against her normal decision and she is not normally impulsive, she is both excited and nervous! We reach Los Arcos, rest up and and have lunch. It's then goodbyes to Alan, Con, Rachel and Sarah. And then there was five! We walked a further 7 km through wheat fields, vineyards all to the back drop of mountains, pure heaven! I walk this stage with Emma, the only Irish left in the group!
We arrive in Torres Del Rio at about 16:00, well wrecked but a good days walking done. We check into our albergue, shower and feel almost human again! After doing the laundry it's time to sit in the sun and relax chatting to the other pilgrims. It a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, people of all nationalities sitting in the sun drinking beer and water all happy to share life experiences!
Later we have a beautiful mean in a local restaurant and a good old sing song outside the albergue
Sometimes despite the early mornings, the long walks the 10 pm curfew comes too early!!
Buen Camino

Katrina Hi T.P, It is so great. I feel rather emotional reading your blog, part of me wishing I was there too. You could just get rid of your jocks but you will need your socks. I hope your feet are happy - my friend fiona has walked the world, if you need any foot tips, i'll have a chat with her. How is your back? My journey is an internal one at the moment, the terrain is rocky and precarious and i daren't look down, I feel the warmth of my tears telling me that I am alive. I think of yours and am proud of the steps that you have taken to find yourself on this special pilgrims route. I love too your choice of poems and songs. I did'nt know your were going on this journey and I would like to offer you something to help you on the way. Perhaps a bead of wisdom - perhaps it is for expansiveness and growth. may your feet take you kindly. much love Katrina x
