Three Little Birds
"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")
Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', "This is my message to you-ou-ou:"
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. Don't worry!"
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing" - I won't worry!
"'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right" - I won't worry!
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, oh no!
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

The now almost customary 05:30 starts. The morning ritual, the most important of the day, prepare the feet for the day ahead. The foot is part of the body I rarely spend yet any attention to, yet for this journey it has become the most important part of all. If I don't give my feet the care and attention they deserve then they will be unable to carry me along on this journey.
I set out the day walking with a few others (French & Canadian) but soon I find myself walking alone. I am walking through oak woodlands, on earthen boreens. It is so beautiful as the early morning breaks through the trees! Light streams through the tree branches bring the fern carpeted ground to life! The birds singing, the gentle cool breeze and the oak shaded walk makes it such a perfect place for walking. These boreens lead me through farm yards as cows are being milked, vegetable plots behind attended and country folk going about their daily lives as though oblivious to the thousands of strangers passing through their lives!
I think of all the old boreens, old roads and railway lines that are now closed and lost and it seems such a sad loss! And then the first memory I have of Arlinstown comes flooding back. It's of following the discarded fertilisers bags along the boreens of our new farm. I can still feel the excitement of a 6 year old on the biggest adventure of my life! And much of the day is spent reminiscing of days growing up in Arlinstown, special places such as the 'liss' the stream at the boundary to Sullivans, the monkey tree and the huge rhododendron bushes that we spent hours playing in and getting lost in. A day spent reminiscing!!
It is also very noticeable the increased numbers of pilgrims on the the Camino. The first impact is that I find a few albergue's are full. I ende up having to walk about 8km longer than planned to get a bed for the night. Two hours of extra walking in the hottest part of the day, I am encouraged along these extra kilometre's by The Killers.
I eventually find a bed and get myself a drink, wow I am gasping and almost dehydrated. Over 30km on a very hot day, the shower on days like today is just 'exquisite'!!
I end up having my evening with a father and daughter from Dublin. They started just two days ago. It's a lovely evening.
I go to bed thinking of the bluebells, the daffodils, the briars, the nettles, the thistles, the sycamores, the beeches and blackberries of my own boreens.

Helen I remember all those things about Arlinstown, it lovely to be reminded again though. I hope you are feeling very proud of yourself!!
loyola Those extra 8km must have felt like 80km to you. That's tough going especially in the scorching heat. Just as well you had an exquisite time afterwards!! Think I will have to look into plagiarism and see what it will cost you when you get back!!
