Blackbird
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
The Beatles - Lennon/McCartney
This morning was very pleasant, it was like a good Irish summers morning. This was fitting as yesterday I had entered into the Galician region of Spain. This is a very Celtic region in Spain and has many similarities to Ireland, including weather, scenery, music, food. Its very rural and suffers a lot from immigration. It is in many like the west of Ireland and is comparable to Ireland 40 years ago! It's just like home yet it's totally different and I feel at home here this morning.
I walked today with Anny Sandra and its been a while since we chatted. So today was a good day to catch up on how our respective camino's were going. We had a great walk through what could have been boreens and woodlands back home. The low lying clouds that hung in the woodlands was so beautiful as we strolled along. We met the young Irish teachers in Sairra at lunchtime so we had a drink with them and chatted about how the last few days had been since we last met. We continued on and arrived at our albergue for the night. It is a converted barn, housing a hostel of about 38 beds. The restored farmhouse is also a restaurant. It is also a working farm. Michael would have been delighted to see this I'm sure!! There is also a tiny chapel on the property, which they unlock for me. It is so nice to spend some time alone in silent reflection and prayer.
There are about 20 pilgrims sharing in the dormitory, which is very nice, bright and clean.
While doing my laundry I discover that I'm down to 2 pair of jocks. These two pair have to get me through the next 9 days - that should be an interesting challenge!!!!
This was such a beautiful place to relax, away from the crowd in a beautiful rural setting. I enjoy the tranquility of this place so much and yet I could be at home there is so many reminders. Maybe I needed to go away to be reminded of the things that are simple in life.
Live life simple, by living simply.
Buen Camino
PS
I've been without wifi and phone credit for almost two days. Sometimes that's a blessing, no distraction and more time for reflection.

Mairead TP - if you don't hand wash those jocks, wifi won't be the only thing you have to do without, you won't have too many pilgrims walking beside you either!! Buen fresh odours!!
