On the 33rd day of my pilgrimage I attended Mass in the Cathedral, joined by so many others that I had shared this journey. It was a joyous occasion. The sight of seeing the giant incense burner being swung from side to side in front of the magnificent alter. The hairs on the back if my neck stood stiff and my eyes welled with tears. Why i…
Do not look back,
No one knows how the world ever began,
Do not fear the future, nothing lasts forever,
If you dwell on the past or future,
You will miss the moment

Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, …
With a Little Help from a Friend
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of …

Those extra 8km must have felt like 80km to you. That's tough going especially in the scorching heat. Just as well you had an exquisite time afterwards!! Think I will have to look into plagiarism and see what it will cost you when you get back!!

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Donal.
TP, just got on to your blog, it looks like a fantastic trip but I don't know how you can keep walking that distance with blisters - I recon the half marathon we did in Glengariffe last year toughened you up! Keep posting the blogs. Donal.

"Travelling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things - air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky - all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it."
