We had a fairly relaxed day today compared to the craziness of yesterday. We walked into town and checked out Green Market Square and brought a couple of little souvenirs and then called into the Manhattan Cafe for a quick coffee.
After much debate on how many layers of clothes we should take with us we made our way to the wharf to go to Robben Island. Our ferry was due to leave at 1pm and they told us to be there half an hour early. So we arrived and waited. 1pm came and went and we were still waiting, waiting, waiting. An hour later we finally got on our ferry and headed over. It's true when they say things here work on African time.
The Robben Island tour was informative and even a little comical. The guides are former prisoners and ours had the most sing song voice and was swaying as he was talking so we were calling it Robben Island the musical. We got to see Mandela's 2 x 3 metre cell and where he hid his manuscript for his book.
Because our tour had departed so late we didn't get back to Cape Town until an hour later then planned which made us an hour late for our appointment at the beautician, who apparently does not work on African time and was quite annoyed that we had arrived an hour late and threatened to cancel our appointment completely. We eventually convinced her to do our manicure and my eyebrow waxing but we had to miss out on our pedicures. Lets hope there are no feet shots tomorrow.
Weather today was stunning. Sunshine and blue skies all day.
Not sure what we will do tomorrow. Guess it depends on the weather.
