Good bye Cape Town. We have had the perfect amount of time here and been able to see and do everything that we wanted. There wasn't a moment that we didn't feel safe while we were here either. It's a perfect spot to holiday.
Our driver from yesterday came to collect us and take us to the airport so we could pick up our hire car so from now on we're on our own. Uh oh!!
We have a little silver volkswagen golf which we have named Simba and the way we drive the poor little thing does occasionally roar. Some driving tips we have picked up along the way if you ever find yourself driving here. If there is a shoulder on the road and the car behind you wants to pass, you pull a little to the left onto the shoulder and they will overtake and give you a little flick of their hazard lights to say thanks. Also at an intersection all roads have a stop sign so the first person at the intersection has right of way, we think!!
We drove ourselves from Cape Town to Gansbaai without any problems. It was a really nice drive through the mountains but we were both surprised at how big the townships (shanti towns) are and how many of them there are. It is really sad to see.
Gansbaai is a small very quiet place and there really isn't much to do but shark diving or whale watching. We are too early in the year for the whales but right on time for the sharks. We went for a walk to find the company we are diving with and took some pre dive photos and then there was nothing else to do. We sat outside our hotel and read our books and then some dinner and in bed and asleep by 8:30. This is our rock and roll lifestyle now that we are married.
Weather report - we had some rain this morning in Cape Town but once we hit the road it started to clear and there was sunshine when we arrived in Gansbaai.
