Mambo! Still in Zanzibar and having a great time. I met one of the locals and he has taken me under his wing. Yesterday he showed me around ton. We went to the spice market where I bought some spices and fruits. When I saw a fruit that I did not know he bought it for me so I can try it. He took me to a great local place to have dinner and it was amazing and very cheap. Later we went to a local bar and played pool. He is vey intelligent and loves to show me around. Today he took me to his house to meet his family and his sister showed me how to make this awesome local tea. Its black tea with ginger and it is amazing. I talked with her for about 2 hours. We talked about politics of Africa which was very insightful because I was not aware of all the issues they have had. She wants me to come back to visit her so I can meet the rest of the family. She was so kind and I left her house feeling very happy. I really enjoy it here. I have learned so much about how this country runs and why they are where the are. The locals are very eager to teach me their ways and educate me of there history and culture. Many of the locals continue to tell me that I need to learn Swahili so I have been trying to learn. Its a fun language and I have picked up the basics. Im suppose to have a lesson tonight with a local I met at the market. He asked if he could teach me and ofcourse I would love that. Athough I am by myself here on the island, I am not alone much. I have met so many locals here and all they want to do is show me around. Tomorrow night is a full moon party at one of the north beaches. Apparently its a big deal because all the locals I have talked to are going to it. It only happens once a month where everyone meets at the same place around a bonfire and plays music and beats drums. It should a great cultural experience and a wonderful time. Im really looking forward to it. My friend Razak took me to a place to get some athentic Tanzania music today. Im trying to get him to come with me to go shopping because if I go by myself, they will try to rip me off. He can get me a great price. Anyways, Abby should be here in a few days. Until next time! Kwaheri!

Kathy I so glad you are having a good time, however, it does make me a little nervous knowing you are there by yourself. Please be careful and don't be too trusting. You are a beautiful "american" girl all alone & someone might take advantage of that. Listen to your "uh oh" feelings and stay with a crowd. I know you will say I am being silly and I don't know these people and I'm sure most of them are very nice but there is always someone out there that may not be ..I'm just saying... Have fun..be safe.. and as always ..I love you!!
Tracy I agree with your mom. It sounds amazing, but like I said before watch your back. Have Fun

Cindy C. Hi Taylor! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and living vicariously through you. The one about the stars and being in a snowglobe brought me to tears. When we were in Italy last summer, I kept thinking of the words to a Michael Franti song..."the more I see, the less I know". I bet being there in Tanzania feels very much the same. Enjoy that little corner of our wondrous world, and we'll see you real soon. Take care! Andy, Ashleigh and Caitlin all send a big "Hey Taylor" too!
