Jambo! Everything is still great here in Tanzania. Our safari was out of this world. We saw so many animals. I saw lions, baboons, cheetas, zebras, elephants, garaffs, rinos, hippos, water buffalo, wildabeast, leapards, and flamingos. I got some great pictures too! I had a close incounter with a herd of water buffalo. The last night of our safari we were camping on the ridge of the Ngoronoro Crater and right when it got dark we came out the bandas from eating dinner a discovered that about 20 or 30 wildabeast and zebras grazing on the grass inbetween our tents. It was amazing!! It was so dark but when we looked around all we could see where eyes glaring at us. They didnt cause any issues but needless to say I didnt get any sleep that night. I could literally feel the vibrations from them eating grass inches from my head. My friend Abby accidiently turned a corner and was less than 10 feet from the tusks of an elephant.
I am now back in Zanzibar. It took what should have been a 9 hour bus that ended up being 11 hours. I have arrived at my homestay family and I start my volunteer work tomorrow. Im not sure about the place I am staying. I realize now that all the places I have stayed up until now have been middle to upper class homes. This home is not. It has given my a new insight on how Africans really live. Im not too comfortable in this place right now but hopefully it will get better in the next few days. I still am not able to unload any photos yet. I never get any time to myself which is really starting to wear me out. I always have to be somewhere or do something. Its kinda frustrating but after one week I will have 2 full weeks to myself at the beach. I cant wait!! Talk to you all soon! I love you

Rachel Hey Taylor -- I remember the shock of arriving at homestay, too. I was there 10 weeks before moving to site and never got entirely comfortable so I'm not sure if I can offer any advice. I hope you find a way to connect with the family, relax, and enjoy what you have in common.
