Jambo! Second day here in Zanzibar and we are having a blast!! We went on a spice tour this morning and it was amazing! We got to see where simple house hold spices like black pepper and cumin comes from in the natural form. We saw a cinnimon tree and the roots are actually where menthol comes from. We watched a man climb an enormaous palm tree to get coconut for us and then they taught us how to make coconut milk out of it. The little town that the farm went throught was so cute and their were so many kids that ran around yelling "Jambo" which is hello in swalihi. I have a ton of cinnimon bark that I am drting and taking home with me...that is if I can make it through customs. Anyways, We came back and had some free time so me and Abby walked around the town, went shoping, and had some lunch. We met the group back at the town garden at sunset (which was beautiful) and then walked to a restaurant. We had dinner at this place called two table restaurant. It is actually a family's home that thy have turned into a restaurant. Their dining room have two tables that seat 8 people each. You have to make advance reservations because this place is so popular. Literally the family's living room and living quarters are down the hall. It was a traditional Zanzibari meal that was 7 COURSES!! Oh my gosh the food was amazing!!!! We ate so much food. It was such a great experience. After that we came back to the hotel to change and then went out to a rasta bar. We had met some people yesterday and we found them there. The had some awesome regae music and fun danicing. The bar is an open air bar with pool tables and a stage. It is very run down but when you have great people, dancing, beer, and stars, I couldnt ask for more. This is something I will never forget. We danced until we couldnt anymore and then took a stroll on the beach. The beaches are amazing and at night when we walk on the sand, the kale in the water lights up neon green. Every foot step leaves a trail of lights. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Tomorrow we leave for the east coast of the island and will stay 3 nights in a bugalow on the beach! Life is great! I miss you all!!!
