I thought I would try and fit in a quick journal entry before I leave for SA so here goes... My last week in cape Coast was mostly spent saying goodbyes to peopel and any of you who know me, which is hopefully all of you or your soem randomer who shouldn't be reading my journal anyway(!), know that I'm not very good with goodbye's! Well Monday I went to the school which was really good and very challenging... Tuesday I went to work and then took the kids from New Life swimming for the last time, was really weird actually as it wasn't my placement but was still really sad to say goodbye to them, they are the most adorable and cutest children who really don't ask for anything even though they have nothing, definitely puts western children to shame. Ok before I get on my soap box I shall continue, Tuesday eve we went to the final quiz night which was actually quite good. Wednesday was my last day at work and I was quite sad to leave, I get on really well with the people I work with and have spent so much time with them. I did feel like I had reached a point where there wasn't really very much else I could do there and I prefered spendign time at New Life so it was probably time to leave.Â
Wednesday evening was Veronica and my leaving do in Cape Coast so that was really good. We went to castle restaurant for a lovely meal - our favourite place, having spent many an afternoon there! After which we went to Oasis for one last visit. Thursday I had to say good bye to my host family which was really sad as they were SO lovely to me and always welcomed me in the best possible way, did end up cooking only the food that I liked, the kids were adorable and v.funny and they were all just really really hospitable all the time. I did of course cry, as I had done already a few times!Â
So what was to come to the rescue - Green Turtle of course! Veronica, Imelda and I went there for 5 days which was fab, the weather wasn't so great but it was nice to not be sweating 24/7. After our 5 day rest which involved the best food (swordfish and mango stir fry!), alcohol and the mandatory games of pool we took Imelda to the airport and Veronica, Jess and I went for another 5 day break to Ada Foah or Adan For as we realised it was called after walking round Acrra for abotu 2 hours and nobody having any idea of where we were trying to get to! This place was ABSOLUTE paradise, palm trees, white sand, bamboo huts and absolutely nothing to do! So that's exactly what we did...
Until coming to Accra on Monday that is... Will give you the next episode soon xx
