Firstly, let me apologise for the mess up with the pictures, for some reason I'm having an absolute nightmare uploading pictures! The internet in Cape Coast has been rubbish for about two weeks and now I've found a decent internet cafe whilst travelling and STA have decided they don't think today would be a good day for me to upload pictures so the website is not working properly! Next time I promise! One day I'll have a hassle free trip to the net...
Ok, so let me rewind two weeks and try and catch up on what you've missed.... I went to church on Easter Sunday and it was actually ok! A big group of 10 us went, so we were all dancing and singing - well actually not singing just making some noise as none of us know the words! After that we went to Coco Grove which is of course one of my favourite places to go in CC, this time was especially good as 4 of us (Veronica, Jess Charlotte and I) stayed late and had dinner there which was aboslutely fantastic! It's amazing how much here I seem to eat because I have to rather than acually really enjoying it but then I guess it makes it all the better when you do eat something really nice. Monday we completed our four day stretch of beach bumming and went to Moree Beach which had a live reggae band and we basically did nothing all day except chill and sunbathe whilst listening to some nice reggae tunes - heaven! This was followed in the evening by a trip to Castle Restaurant (one of our favs) for Red Red and a few beers (again one of our favs, well mine anyway!)
Tuesday Jess and Georgie came to the station in the morning with me and then in the afternoon some of us we took the children from New Life Orphanage to Hans Cottage swimming which is SO much fun! I think maybe Georgie and I had more fun than the children! Wednesday evening Veronica, Jess and I stayed at New Life overnight which again was SO much fun, the children are amazing (unfortunately you'll have to wait for the pics but they're def worth it!) We took popcorn, bread and sweets with us so we were definitely allowed to stay!
Thursday we woke up v.early as every single Ghanaian seems to get up between 4 and 5 every morning so you can imagine what time the kids were up... I went to ATL with Jonas which was fun. Friday was lights off during the day so ATL wasn't broadcasting - hilarious I know, people are so used to things just not working that they're not phased at all when the radio station goes off air all day! Instead I went to New Life again and just chilled and played with the kids, they're all SO sweet as whenever we leave they all want to know when they will see us again, this time it was horrible as I knew I would be travelling for two weeks and not see them for ages.
Saturday was Jess' 27 (! sorry dude !) birthday so we spent the whole day at Anomabu Beach Resort which was fab and then we all stayed and ate there as well. Even splashed out and got ourselves white wine! It's so funny the small things you take for granted at home that you just can't get here or that are really expensive here compared to everything else. A bottle of wine here (which is actually quite rare to see anyway) is like 8 pound but when you compare it to a beer that is 50p it's crazy. We had a really good day and evening though so the grand total of abotu 15 pounds taht I spent was well worth it!
Sunday we went back to Coco Grove, I know beach beach beach recently, I have gone to work as well honest! In the evening it was time to say goodbye to one of my good friends here Charlotte which was really rubbish as I'll really miss her but I guess thats the nature of things like this... Luckily for her she's going to Southampton Uni in October so will get to see me again lol! If you're reading this Charlotte I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the fishing boat painting...
Monday was time to leave Cape Coast for almost two weeks to do an anti clockwise trip around Ghana, taking in the sites, details of which shall follow shortly..... Again I'm really sorry for the late journal entry but I'm just having TOO MUCH FUN!! Much love xx
