Campsite #3: McNamara Park, Broke - our first free bush camping experience!
Campsite #4 Moss Vale Village Caravan Park
Today was another tough day at the office - wine tastings in the Hunter Valley! We celebrated surviving our first free bush camping experience the night before. It was surprisingly pleasant, and at the very least meant we had more money to spend on wine. I (Janelle) even managed a hot shower, albeit an outdoor one. It actually wasn't too bad thanks to the L'Occitane shampoos, shower gels and soaps that Jonathan stocked my toiletry kit with before we left. A girl can only rough it so much after all!
The last time we were at the Hunter was pre-kids. Visiting the wineries was a little different this time, including emergency dashes to the car for nappy and clothing changes (thankfully only for Esther). But we still had a great time.
After a lovely late lunch - and a trip to Woolworths to restock with nappies and wipes! - we hit the road. The plan was to drive 1.5 hours and stay just north of Sydney and tackle the Sydney traffic tomorrow. However, we decided to press on. This meant another 3 hours drive time and an unglamorous stop in the Central Coast tourist info centre carpark so I could feed Esther (we've already repealed the no-food-in-the-car rule for Angelina).
By the end, we were all delirious but we finally made it to the Southern Highlands and the quaint town of Moss Vale (Jonathan wanted to travel 40 minutes more to another free site but his girls - including me - had other plans). We can now explore our surrounds at a more leisurely place. Tomorrow will hopefully be filled with antique shop finds, sightseeing and bush walks in the local area. And another hot shower!
