Not much to tell today, we took it very easy. It was a hot day, 25+, sunny and dry.
Deciding we could fit in just a little more if we replaced our soft bag with a full sized suitcase we ventured out into the retail world. At Target we bought a big expandable case for $90.
Having seen a few things along the way at way less than at home we hit a pharmacy and bought some bits and pieces like Venus blades, floss, mouth wash and deodorants, all at half the price we pay in Oz.
We hit a mall at Grapevine Mill and got most of the bits and pieces Dan asked us to collect for his go pro cam. Deciding the go pro,was well priced here Pete bought himself one while he was at it lol I bought two pairs of Nikes for $80 ea and a few t shirts from NY Company. Pete bought two pairs of New balance for a bargain $40 ea.
the shopping mall included an aquarium which looked pretty good but we didn't venture in. There was also an ice rink and a pool with those balls you can get in and roll around in as well as a jungle cafe which had several marine tanks in it, all fake corals but the fish looked very healthy.
Thats it, shopping spree for the trip done.
We went and checked out a huge outdoor store. It sells everything imaginable and a fair bit unimaginable lol. I had no idea there was such a market for all things camo, Rambo etc for women as well as men. Apparently if you put just a touch of pink or lace on anything camo it's then feminine lmao. The place was loaded with dead stuffed animals, deer, bison, bear and lots more. In the middle there was a water fall which flowed into a tank with large fresh water fish. Another tank had a couple of rattle snakes in it. There were so many knives, guns, rifles, hand guns, assault rifles and everything else lethal. There's even a rifle range where you can try before you buy. The archery range where you try out your bows and arrows was closed today so we didn't see anyone trying them out. They had boats, camping gear, clothing, the list just goes on and on, literally your one stop shop for anything and everything you could do in the great outdoors.
We're still finding the Dallas road system fascinating. They seem to just keep going up and up with more and more fly overs. Many have patterns imprinted on them like stars. The work to build more seems endless.
Back to our hotel and with some juggling we managed to get everything packed and each bag just under the required 50lbs. The only thing we've decided we can't take home is the griddle, it doesn't easily fit in and we can't figure out how we'd make it work on our power supply anyway so we will leave it for the housekeeper :-)
Dinner consisted of pretty much everything we had left. LA will have to be eating out 3 meals a day for the 2 days we're there.
The first of the new season shows were on tonight for NCIS, NCIS LA & Person of Interest so we watched them all, probably only a week or so ahead of them airing in Oz but ahead of everyone else just the same lol
We've booked for our stay in LA and fly there tomorrow afternoon via El Paso arriving local time about 5.30pm.
