The only solution to a day of university that started at 8.30 in the morning and finished at 7 at night ...
Beer!
And boy do I think I deserve it! Dont worry - it was a group of us, not just me alone - I have not turned into an alcoholic... yet. You see I am on an intensive language course for the first two weeks. An example -
we were reading (in french of course) about the invasion of the roman empire by the barbarians and the portrayal of the effect that this had on european civilisation in art...
...at least I think that is what it is about...
The class (the attendees are quickly dwindling) also spent a good 20 minutes today talking about how trash television is awful and the bad effect that it is having on our culture. I (someone who sky plusses Keeping up with the Kardashians) kept a low profile.
We also had to do an exercise on an article which was a take on what a set of modern "Happy Family" cards would include. For those of you who dont know what Happy Families is... like one of my fellow aspirants (peeps from Guernsey) (?) I have included a link below.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Families
There were various options - Geeks, hippies etc. There are 9 people in my class, some guernsey and some from Germany/Italy. We had to decide which family we would be most like and then discuss with the group.
My eyes landed on a family, the description of which started as "Les samedi apres-midi, on est sur de les trouver chez H&M ou Zara..." "Saturday afternoon, we are sure to find them at H&M or Zara - ONLY MY TWO FAVOURITE SHOPS!! "Les Fashionistas" - tick that Box!!
We then had to discuss it ... it turns out EVERYONE bar me believed themselves a "Bobo", les bourgeois-bohemes, described as those who want to send their children to private school, live in the nice part of town (probably not st sampson), who are intellectual (err probably not an avid Kardashians fan).
I think I am really going to fit in here... :)

Shraddha Why can't they make you read something that may be useful at some point in your life?! You are funny, in your head and mine :) I bet some of the others are a bit more like you but are just too scared to admit it.
