Patience is a virtue and beginning on this boat has given me the opportunity to be very virtues. Day three and four gave gone more less like those before it with three gruel like meals a day and many stops at little villages along the river. I have to say that if it wasn't for my amazing bunkmates and the super friendly youth on the boat I would not be in the same happy state I am in now. These are the first friends I can say I have made on the journey and I will not soon forget them. We have talked about politics, food, music, travels, stereotypes of each others countries, and just about ever other topic. I would say talking with them alone has been a like a weekend philosophy course that I has no value. As for the peruvians that have willingly and patiently listen while I struggle with my Spanish, well they are the reason why I believe so strongly in traveling. They all are so interested in me and my country as I too ask about theirs. Just tonight a young guy was having me explain to him in Spanish what my travel guide was saying about some activity in Iquitos. From there I showed him a English to Spanish dictionary and he made a real effort to speak phrases in English. For the first time I felt a since to teach and more importantly I felt the one of a kind feeling one gets when they see the happiness that radiates from a genuine teaching experience. Well for now I will sign off because tomorrow I will finally be I Iquitos and after a Bice shower and meal I'll be ready for the jungle.
