Spencer Perna's Travels
As we pulled into the ancient city around noon I began to sense the excitement of what was to come. In a lot of ways Cuzco is the pennicle portion of ones trip to Peru. The city is carved with cobble stone roads and more steps than a giant sky scraper. The old Inca walls can still be found mixed in with the Spanish influences. Hugo and I went immediately to the Loki hostel which us situated atop a great hill. The hostel was well equipped but being there only one night I was never able to capture the vibe of the place. Our plan was to wake early and begin our journey to Machu Picchu via the poor mans route. After a little provisioning and a nice pizza dinner we settled in for a 6 AM wakeup call.
