After the long 4 day boat trip on Henry 7 we land on Iquitos. Iquitos is the last city before one enters the jungle and it's and it's relaxed nature was a certain side affect of it's seclusion from the world. From the minute we all hit the muddy ground at port the pestering began. Mototaxi drivers attacking from every angle each one low balling the other. We all decided to go with the two men who approached us first, sometimes it's easiest that way, instead of trying to save a buck. the town was bustling but I still felt the subdued vibe everywhere as we scanned the city on route to our hostel. The hostel we decided on because a recommendation Niko received was named Golondinas. I was very impressed with the place from the second we arrived. A large breeze way fill the entrance and a "clean" pool occupied the rear. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and had plenty of space. After being pleasantly surprised by the hostel our spirits were high so we decided to get acquainted with the city and find the right agency to guide us through the jungle. After only a short while we found ourselves in the Amazon King office reading off a list of activities that that we each wanted to do. After settling on a price we were already to go for six the next morning (11/19), but not before we celebrated at the hostel with a bottle of Jonny Walker.:)
