Sunday 4th March:
We were leaving Bondi beach hostel today so left our luggage in storage for the day as we couldn't check in at our next hostel till 12 pm. It's getting quite stressful lugging our bags up flights of stairs but we've discovered a trick - stand there looking sorry for yourself and wait for a guy to walk past then begin struggling with the bag untill he carries it for you. Works a treat!
Had brekkie in 'Mojito' again, becoming quite the regulars and spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach. We learnt from last time and set up next to the lifeguard station, pretending to read our books with the sunnies on! Em discovered a James Case look-a-like much to Soph's amusement.
We decided to take a walk to the shops and ended up having desert trek take 2...had to climb 2 huge hills in the litterally sweltering heat - couldn't talk to each other as we thought we might waste energy on the way up. Luckily we made it to the top and after resting in a number of cafe's and bus shelters we reached our destination - the piercing and tattoo shop! After an hour of stress in the shop we decided to have our ear pierced (not the normal lobe, the bit on the side - ask Nic or Barb for better description and picture). Em was brave and volunteered to go 1st. Had to lay on table while huge guy with about 10 tattoos stood over you with a needle!! They didn't freeze it or use a gun it was literally a needle going through your ear, VERY painful. The guy gave us breathing exercises while we were having it done cos he though we might faint! Soph wasn't going to have it done but with a few convincing words from Em - "no honestly it doesn't hurt at all" she went for it. Pain unbearable but so happy we had it done, really like it. When we eventually get more pictures up you'll see it.
Back at the hostel we were told it would take three bus journeys to get to our next hostel, or an expensive taxi - being the good girls that we are we opted for the stressful bus. When we got to 'Glebe Hostel' (really nice place and friendly reception guy) we headed straight to the pub after dumping our bags. Had really nice meal there, sausage and mash..yum! On the way back to out hostel we decided to do the weekly shop. This consisted of two boxes of cereal and a pack of cup-a-soup - we're in for a treat this week!
