First day today at the school!! I'm a bit nervous but excited at the same time! I paid 500 rupees for the Tuk Tuk to the school as we agreed that it was risky to be late on our first day if we took the bus. It only took us 40 minutes to get there, it was worth it as I saw some lovely sights along the way such as beautiful green, rice paddy field, the bustle and hustle of each town we passed. We got given our timetable for the day and I was shocked. I just got given a class to teach by myself, I expected to be observing a teacher for the time being...I was pleased as well, it was a good opportunity for me to interact with the students individually. I mainly just asked about them, their lives, I needed to do that in order to get the understanding of their English skills and intelligence. We got a tea break and there was a girl who was really lovely, she took upon herself to be responsible for our tea break! The tea was tasty, very well blended....I look forward to sampling more Sri-Lankan tea! There was a couple of lessons afterwards then we finished around 2pm, we decided to go to a Internet cafe and catch up on emails, check out Facebook! Once I done that, I realised that I missed England, the tetley tea, my comfort zone, and a hot bath! But deep down I knew that I was going to be staying right here for the next 8 weeks because these children needed me more than my family did.
