San Diego Comic Con Baby!!!!
A bright and early start today, for we were headed off to spend the day in Ballroom 20 listening to talks by our fave TV show casts! We headed down to breakfast to stock up on Pancakes and bagels and make ourselves packed lunches before heading off to the Convention Centre to join the queue for Ballroom 20.
The stroll to the centre was fairly short and as we meandered our way around the queue was nowhere near as long as we had expected it to be, turns out not everyone had joined us in getting seast and staying them all day - in our defence we did plan to watch all but the first talk! We must have joined the queue about 8.30am and within the hour we were seated in a set of not so shabby seats that would be our home for the rest of the day. Once seated we decided to take in in turns to go to the loo, and (having spotted a cart earlier) I decided it was time for a round of Lattes.
Now Starbucks are known for thier speed worldwide so how the girls on this cart hadn't been fired I have no idea, I'm not even remotely exadurating when I say it took at LEAST 30 MINUTES to get served - with at most 10 people being infront of me - and then another to to fifteen minutes for the woman to make the darn drinks. Seriously if that had been a regular Starbucks the crowd would have lynched them!
Anyways, by the time I returned, with coffee treats for all, the first talk had started, which as it was one I wasn't to fussed about I settled down with my coffee and half listened. The talk was about Stargate Universe, which actually caught my attention and reminded me I still had the last SG1 series to watch (I'm a bad geek)! Soon enough the hour was up and the room cleared a little with others joining to watch the next talk. This pattern continued throughout the day.
11:45 BSG Caprica - Edward James Olmos was on the panel, need I say more? Trailers looked all kinds of awesome and the talk made the show sound even more so!
13:00 The Big Bang Theory - I was a tad over excited for this talk since developing an unhealthy addiction to the show. The cast were all on the panel and it was all kinds of fantastic :D
14:15 24: I actually slipped out for a bit at the start of this talk as I've lost interest in the show. THe pull of Keifer and Katee Scakoff was not enough to keep me in my seat, but I did enjoy the view when I returned. The changes and challenges facing the show did sound interesting but I'm still not convinced I'll watch it.
15:00 Bones - Once again I was a tad excited for this panel. It ended up happening without David, but Emily and Heart were enough for me. They talked about season 5 and how Booth's amneisa wasn't amnesia (woo) and other good stuff. It sadly didn't feel very long and soon it was the end which made me sad but then it was Dollhouse time so more awesomeness!
16:00 Dollhouse - The panel started with Joss coming out and introducing the 13th ep of Dollhouse and we all sat and watched it. Afterwards we had a nice long chat with him and Eliza about the show. I think we were also supposed to have Joss talk about his comic book writing but they shortened the time due to running over earlier :(
After Dollhouse/Joss the room emptied, seriously. There was just a flood of people leaving. We took this oppertunity to move slightly further forward for the final panel - the Sci-Fi hit list which basically was a chance to show off new and cool shows. We were happy though as Zack Levi and two of the Big Bang cast were on it, and it was quite interesting to listen to aswell.
After the panel finished we were completely wiped, we had been paying attention for eight or so hours, and only consumed one cup of coffee. We were also getting grumpy with each other so a decision was made to head to Ralph's and do some shopping so we had dinner to make, which would most likely kill our grumpiness a bit. Wondering round there was a veritable feast of food to choose from but noneof us could decide what to get so we all ended up with individual microwave meals as well as deciding on a meal for Saturday which includede Chicken Dinosaurs - oh yes we'er such grown ups! We also ended up buying ice cream - my choice being Ben and Jerry's with marzipan in it - yummie!
After that we headed hostelwards to make our food. Noms and Jenny ended up eating downstairs as we were all a little sick of each other I think. THe rest of the evening was fairly quiet, Noms went to bed, Jenny was playing with her laptop and Alice and I curled up in a corner of the landing watching episodes of the Big Banh Theory that I'd found streaming online until eventually too went to bed.
