Well the morning started early but slow as the Rocky Mountaineer train to load several bus loads on board. Always interesting listening to the whiners - it doesn't help anyone so it's better to just shrug your shoulders and deal with it. So onto the train where I was seated next to a lovely woman from Toronto who became my companion for the next two days - how wonderful we got on so well and chose to eat our meals together etc.
The food was very good and we could drink any time we liked - tempting but I didn't want to fall asleep and miss the views so I limited it to a glass of wine with lunch and another late in the afternoon!
The scenery was ever changing and this leg of the trip goes through some amazing desert- like country that even the Canadians said they didn't know existed there. The glass topped carriage was fabulous for taking in total views but not so great for photos due to the glare from the glass. I chose to stand for a lot of the day on the open carriage area and fortunately it was lovely and warm. It was also a lovely opportunity to chat to others.
We arrived in the town of Kamloops late in the day and were taken to our hotel. Dinner was wherever we chose to go, so my friend and I walked up the main street and ended up at Boston Pizza which was new for me and I loved the meal. Tried to upload some photos in the hotel but my Internet kept dropping out so I gave up and went to bed.
PS The staff on the train had warned us we might have 'train legs' when we got off but I didn't feel anything so that was good!
