Today we were off school for election day so Eunju took me to meet the American english teacher from the other nearby school, we met them at school and went for some lunch! Her name is Debbie, she's 37 so a wee bitty older and probably my total opposite! We went for some Kalbi for lunch and she didnt even use the chopsticks so just asked for a fork- quite annoyin when they dont even try! We were also talking about getting mobile phones but she said she didnt want one because she didnt have anyone to phone anyway...obviously not planning on making friends! She was also recruited through ASK Now with Jason. There is a huge Spring get together next sat 19th in seoul with 100 other english teachers, its a scavenger hunt throughout seoul then drinks and food in a mystery location afterwards ooooooohhh! But debbie doesnt want to go, ach well i'll trot along on my own! Ya never know there might be dishy men! hahaha! Sorry dad! After lunch I invited her to come to Lotte Mart with me for a bit of retail therapy but she didnt want to come so Eunju came with me instead...scared incase I got lonely I think! haha!
Friday 11th April
Today was a bit rubbish, not feeling my best! It was science festical today so no classes but still had to go to school. Our plan was to go to the immigration office to pick up my Alien Card (yes Im an alien apparently) which means I could get my internet eventually! However.. Eunju forgot I had a class at 3pm with returnee student, these are students that may have lived abroad for a few years so their English is better but there is also a Turkish girl who doesnt speak any english or Korean and a Japanese girl who is the same so not sure how im supposed to teach them! So was not prepared and a bit worried about what to teach them and feeling crap! Ended up telling them about Scotland and singing Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes etc with them! Dunno how I managed to fill the 90mins- I just blethered!!! We eventually got to the immigration office after I had finished but by that time it was too late for internet! Gutted! Its so frustrating not being able to just upload pics and not been on bebo since I left haha! Sunny and Eunju took me to Pizza Hut for dinner to cheer me up haha!
Saturday 12th April
Today Sunny picked me up at 11am to go to the Vice Principles daughters wedding, it was baing held at the Wedding Hall Conference centre at The World Cup Stadium in Suwon. The stadium looks pretty impressive!! When we went inside there were so many ppl as there was another weeding before his daughters. There were many older women wearing the Hanbok and most of the men actually involved in the wedding wore white gloves. There were flowers everywhere! Before the ceremony we all went into the huge banqueting hall where there were 2 massive Buffets! With everythin you can imagine....there was even Spag Bol (Rozanna you would be happy!) Although there were some wierd looking dishes......octopus, slimy stuff and a dish full of crickets I think!! eeekk! There was a huge stand with every fruit ive ever heard of and you can take as much as you like or choose which fruits you want and they make it into a smoothy for you YUMMY!!
We then went through to visit the bride who was sitting in a little room where people could go in and get her picture taken! Her english was very good because she studies in Australia for 5 years, so we chatted for a wee bit! The wedding ceremony was at 1pm so we all went into the ceremony hall, the ailse was made of blocks of glass filled with flower petals...so pretty! I would probably slip and slide on my a*$#!! Instead of the tables being set in rows they were in round tables. Not sure what went on i thee next 15mins coz it was all in Korean but I think they I do! The lights were then dimmed and the band sang Fly Me To The Moon and after the newly weds went down to bow to their new inlaws. After the wedding I went with Sunny, her daughter Hapin and another teacher and her daughter Yuelsan (no idea if thats right but it kinda sounded like that!) She's only 2...so cute and learning english! We drove down a street that was surrounded by rows of Cherry Blossom so we stopped for some pics then Sunny and Hapin took me to the Park near my flat to chill out and meet another teacher and her 2 children! I thinked they've sensed that kids like me! Their husbands joined us later and they took me out for dinner to a restaurant juts a couple of blocks from my flat for warm noodles and another beef dish. The beef dish was pretty interesting. The waitress brought out dishes with Wasabi- eventually tried it Gazza!! Had to bite my tongue from cursing! haha! She also brought out a pot filled with a orangey spice liquid in it, mushrooms and what to me looked like Nettles in it and placed it on the cooker at the table, once it boiled we put some wafer thin raw beef into the pot, let it cook for a few minutes then scooped it out with the ol' chopsticks- Delish!!! once the beef was finished we poured the noodles into the liquid, let them cook then scoffed them down! Little more difficult to eat with chopsticks!!! What a laugh! We then had some traditional Korean rice which is mixed with spices and herbs....very nice!! They wanted to go to Sunnys house afterwards but my house was only along the road and I was nackered! Decided that on sunday I would take the train to Suwon station to have a look at the shops but Sunny said she would pick me up and we could go together...she loves to shop!
