On Wed 30th April after school I set off with a group of 17 koreans for a wee holiday to Gyeonju, in the south east! Sunny drove us to meet the others outside their housing block to get all the cool boxes and masses of food into the cars...some of them didnt know I was coming and were a tad suprised and excited to see me staring out at them from sunnys car! haha! The kids especially as some of them go to Youlhyun but they are younger so I don't teach them. There was a bit of a fight about who got to go in sunnys car hahaha! There were 9 women including me and 8 kids from ages 6-9...all so cute! So the girls won th fight and had the pleasure of my singing and games for the first 2 hours of the trip..much fun was had! Some of the korean pop music they were playing was pretty funny...ive uploaded 2 of the songs for my photo albums- ENJOY hahaha! So our first pit stop was at about 7:30....we stopped at a service area which had picnic tables etc. They brought out a mass of Kimbap which is rice and veg rolled into crispy seaweed (not my fav so I declined) but they also had a wee gas cooker with them so they boiled up some water and we had Ramen (pronounced Ramyoung) which is like a korean pot noodle!! I was delighted to say the least as this is my favourite snack so far since ive been here and actually getting good at eating noodles with chopsticks too so they were pretty impressed. Right away I could tell they were a good bunch of people....always laughing, playing practical jokes and by the number of large bottles of beer in the car I knew they liked their booze! haha! Most of them gave me english names to remember, altho it got a bit confusing when 3 of the boys decided they wanted to be called Tony!! So one of them stuck with their korean name, Joon- such a cool wee guy---he wants to be a football star and play for Man Utd aaawwww! the other 2 I just named Tony1 and Tony2. They woman decided on more exotic names....Iris (as thats what her name means), Sofia, Olivia, Hapne (bit of korean humour...insteas of daphne, she's happy so Hapne......hhmmm??) Not sure I understood it either hahah! The other names were korean and I struggled to remember them!! One of them sounded like Hannah so thats what I'll call her in my blog. We set off again this time with the crazy boys in tow, Joon, Toni1 and Kevin so I taught them A Boom Chicka Boom- some Parkhead ppl might remember this little number...lots of fun and the boys loved it and were wettin themselves laughing at my squeeky style on one of the verses. Played the shopping game too which was pretty funny as they struggled to remember the list!
We arrived after 4.5 hours on the road at Daemyung resort in Gyeongju, it was called a condominium, no idea what that means but it was like apartments in a hotel..ppfft I dunno! It was lovely anyway! We had 2 apartments each with 2 room.....17 people you do the maths! Anyway they decided to give me a room to myself instead of sleeping like a sardine with them...very sweet of them!!!!! We slept on what was like 2 heavy duvets and a pillow filled with......yes you guessed it rice!! Bloody rice aarrgghh! hahaha! We all got into our comfies and PJ's and got stuck in to some beer and nibbles as I learned about korean banter Hannah and Iris entertained by putting kimbap on their teeth so they looked toothless....dafties!! We laughed in to the night and eventually gave in at 2am for some much needed sleep!!
