A later start with what we thought was all the time in the world till the 7:30pm night bus to BA. Had some old toast and jam (I accidentally ate marmalade), tang and tea and coffee, not our best breakfast. We decided to save money and take a few busses to the small town of San ignacio for the Jesuit missions solo. A local bus, baggage storage and a regional bus later (around 70km away) we walked around an old town and the mission ruins. The ruins were in the middle of nowhere, isolated now and extremely hidden then. It had Interesting old infrastructure that was amazingly developed and produced. They utilised the local language and culture to educate the people. This was a place where natives could go to avoid death or slavery... Hard choice. Being part of the Jesuits they were 'protected' by the Portuguese law, they still had to work for the community, for food and for safety. I think the culture would have been amazing. The ruins were beautiful and our free guide (in English for only 4ppl) was very knowledgeable, even with two Americans 'helping' or in our group.
Stroll back to the station, and back to posadas. We then got ready for our next bus. It was a full cama (cama is Spanish for bed) and better than some hostels. We got into our panoramic view seats, similar to first class on a plane, where the personalised entertainment systems were loading. The attendant offers pre dinner beverage of beer, whiskey, tea, coffee, soda.... Hard to pass up 12 year old whiskey. Then wine and a big dinner while watching 'the hobbit'. Seat turns into a flat bed and close the curtains in the capsules, goodnight.
