11/4 Luna landscapes
I would love to explain this place properly but I think the pictures show somewhat of what it was like. Aside from everything being explained in fast Spanish on windy rocks so we understood or heard almost none of it, the surroundings looked like we were on the moon. First we saw plant fossils (they uncover dinosaur fossils here too), then to the striped greys and purples and white valleys, then the sphinx and big ironstone ball (that's what they look like) rock formations. The last two sites were two rock towers and finally the massive mushroom. There are photos of each attached.
While we were wrapping up the tour, a grey dust storm blew in. Out one side of the car it looked like a storm on the moon, out the other side a shear rock wall and blue sky.
We spent the whole day with Andres and Jessie and really had a great time in the car rides with the indigenous driver. As an example, before leaving the park he heads over to a stall, offers us all maté and sings local songs. On the way home he explained and played local music on the stereo, talking about the instruments.
