We awoke to the loudest storm we had heard in years. The Motorhome was infact being shaken by the winds. Looking on the bright side of things we were not on a ferry in the middle of the Bay of Biscay, so we felt much better about this. The Lighting, Thunder and hail made packing up a quick and interesting experience, but not as much as an experience as trying to get out of the site. Rox had yesterday commented that the road was greasy when she had walked up to reception.
This morning the hail had added to the surface and the motorhome could not get up the slope, Wheels spinning and no movement, meant we had to slowly back down the element of the road we had travelled up, turn around and go the wrong way around the site. Even still when we reached the exit the slope was still too steep for the ladden motorhome. A quick think and an unloading of the waste water tanks (The rain would wash away the water), and we had enough grip to climb out. We are so pleased to be out, we set of straight away along a route that we had picked the night before.
The route out of the area was uneventful apart from the continuing hail, and the best lightning we had seen for a number of years, but before long we were on the scenic route and the weather had improved to light drizzle.
