We awoke to the rain, it appears to have not stopped raining all night. There was a good 5 cm of standing water outside the door. We decided (having experienced other campsites in the rain) to move as quickly as possible before the motorhome sunk into the mud (flooding from the nearby river was not considered to be an issue (even considering the evcuation warnings), as it was a good 2 metres below). Moving out we discovered the reason for the standing water was infact that the ground was as hard as nails and the water would not sink through the surface. The forecast had been for heavy rain and it was spot on. It did not stop raining all day. It continued to rain and when we reached the campsite near the Pont du Gard we determined that today would be a stay inside the motorhome day, and then the rain got heavier. We may have even sprung a leak (or Rebecca had spilt her drink, we are still not sure.)
Tomorrow we hope to be romans, but it will depend on the weather. As far as we can tell currently the rain in Spain falls mainly in France.
