The bridge, the gorges, the town itself, all stunning. We arrived looking to see the bridge. (As that is all we know about the area). The first day we arrived it was wet and cloudy. The campsite was mainly empty and half closed, and the internet was flaky. We were not impressed. However the next day we awoke to glorious sunshine and we decided to make our way into town. Millau has an old town and it is a is was a glorious contrast to the model marvel of engineering that raises up behind it. We had crepes and explored. We visited one of the many high quality glove sellers (And manufactor in this case), and Rox try on some gloves, but unfortunalty could not find a glove that she liked and fitted her. However the service provide was stunning and this was the first place where I have seen a real glove fitting service, and for the phrase, it fits like a glove to actually mean something.
In case of rain the next day we had decided to visit a cave up one of the gorges that feed in to Millau. The rain however did not come and what followed (due to a fortunate bit of failed map reading) was a drive into the gorges, which put the bridge (whilst it is a great example of man's engineering skills) to shame and proved that when it comes to it Mother Nature still provides the best views and scenery. The cave was visited and was very different to other limestone cave which I had been to, as the stalagmites where the important feature here, rather than the stalagtites. And from there return trip through a different gorge.
