We picked this location as it was on the way to the Rhone valley, as our plan is to cross the Alps via the Mount Blanc Tunnel into Italy, this does mean that we had to get to the Mount Blanc Tunnel. Now whilst the motorhome is showing the qualities of a mountain goat, its passengers would prefer not to follow the small white lines on the map, (as interesting as they might be), but rather follow what they call the red roads. The drive from Nant to Anduze was interesting in as much as the TomTom (our trusted satnav system) believed that an disused railway was actually a road, but from the drivers point of view was most certainly not. We have little idea of what this area was like but we had found a leaflet about a steam railway.
We arrived in the afternoon and the site had a trampoline which amuzed the children and we took advantage of the free internet that the site provided, which enabled us to update our travel logs. (But not get completely upto date).
The next day we walked into town along the road which hunged the banks of the Gardon. A nice meal at a local resturant and then a trip on the steam railway along the gorges that the Gardon had created. I wandered off to check my email and returned to Rox holding one of the guide books and saying, "Do you know what is around here, this is one of the centres of Roman history". A quick look at the maps and we decided to slow down a bit, the aim was a run up to Alps, but now it was time to relive some of the Asterix tales, and so we changed out plans and we would head to the Pont du Gard.
It then started to rain.......
