Hey All!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Thought I would send y'all some pics of the fun Down Under in Sydney last night!
Had a great day - and by day - I mean day!!
We made our plan the day before and went and had a look around the area we wanted to see New Years from. The capacity was 20,000 and we knew the doors opened at 10am so we made a plan to leave the house at 8am and join the queue.
Unfortunately, so did everyone else. The queue had apparently formed at 4AM!!
That's dedication! So over we walked - down the 15 minute line to the end of the queue and we waited.. and waited..and waited. and finally - 3 hours later we were starting to get close the the front! YAY!
So close in fact - some lovely Indian folks decided to jump the Q and stand right behind us and talk so loud and stand so close.. we were practically related.. nice. Felt pretty sorry for the people behind us.. but they said nothing.. so..
And then we were in -run!!! There was still a 15 minute walk to the actual park detination bit!
So we walked.. pretty quick and ended up having a semi race with some Japanese people who didn't like the idea of our fast (regular paced) walking and so they decided to speak loud and jog until they were in front of us, which was pretty amusing!!! (There was loads of room -we were walking on a road!)
And then we walked about trying to find the best spot - the best spot was incredible.. unfortunately, it was also for 'families only' - so then we decided to try a find another spot, which we did.. and it was on a hill.
Nice!
So, on our great spot, which really was a great spot as the photos will tell, we laid out my towel and sat. and sat. for 12 hours - getting up twice for the toilet (which took half an hour a time in the Q's!) once to get burgers and once to get a drink.
12 hours later.. and lots of security and people shoving, and moaning, and running down, and trying to sneak in a bunch of fireworks went of! Woohoo.
Actually some also went off at 9pm, but the 12 o clock ones were better.
There was a few flight shows with little planes going over ahead.. not doing much, wouldnt have known it was related to New Years if you hadn't researched it.
And so that was New Years Down Under! Loads of fun.. and back ache :)
Love from Ro and Tim xxx
