After this we drove down to Brisbane and had a look around for a few hours. We drove down Edward Street and all of the streets coming off of it were named after past British Monarchs, showing that they are proud of their heritage. Queen Street was the main shopping street in Brisbane, and we went in to an Opal shop for a presentation on the Opal Stone as it is the national stone of Australia. On Monday the 28th we drove to Noosa Heads, which is a holiday area for the rich. Autsralia's Prime Minister often goes there for his holidays. Noosa comes from the local Aboriginal language meaning "shadow" or "shade." This is shown by the buildings, as nothing there is built higher than the palm trees.

On Saturday the 26th we woke up early and made our way from the farm down to Fraser Island. Soon after we left the farm we noticed a massive fire in the bushes to the side of the road. As we got closer the smoke got thicker and we saw huge flames tearing through trees. On Tuesday 22nd we left Cairns and travelled to Airlie Beach. We stopped off for lunch in Townsville and drove past Bowen, which is the town where they shot the film "Australia." They have their own small version of the Hollywood sign painted on a gas cylinder! When we got to Airlie Beach we caught our Catamaran transfer over to Daydream Island resort in the Whitsundays.
