On Thursday morning we left our shipping containers and made our way to Shoal Bay, Port Stephens. Whilst on our way we passed the "Big Banana," which is one of the big things that you can find all over Australia.
When we arrived at Port Stephens, we found out we were in another 4/5* resort, which for the first time on the tour we had single beds rather than bunks!
For dinner we had a "cook your own steak" meal, where we all got a lump of meat and had to chuck it on a grill and see how it went. None of us were brave enough to try the chicken though.. it wasn't worth the risk! After this we went and socialised with our friends in our rooms, as it was the last night together on our tour. Our resort seems nice, however we definitely didn't have long enough here, another day was needed!
On Friday morning we went around the town, which is small and quiet but has some nice cafe's and some cool shops and also nice views over the bay. We learnt that Port Stephens has the highest concentration of Dolphins anywhere in Australia, so this is the place to go Dolphin watching! Also nearby are sand dunes where you can go sand boarding etc.
Right, we'll leave it there for now. In a few hours we'll be making our way to Sydney, where we're going out for the evening with some friends for dinner.
Our Contiki trip has been brilliant overall, we've made some great friends from all over the world.. from a Farmer from Baltimore USA to a Software Engineer from The Netherlands and a Paramedic from Auckland.. quite a mix!
We're on our own from here.. let's see how it goes!
