Not only did we celebrate Luke's birthday on this trip, Amy and I celebrated our 17th (?!!!) wedding anniversary today. Even though it was our last day, we did not stop seeing the sights. This morning we had churros and chocolate for the last time, which was very sad (but ultimately healthier for all). We then headed to the cathedral. We started in the cloisters which has all these tropical plants and 13 white geese. It was a very beautiful setting. Every Sunday, locals gather in front of the cathedral and perform their folk dance. They get in a circle and hold hands and do this line dancing-type dance. There is a band playing Catalunyan folk songs accompanying them. We watched them for a little while and it was surprising enjoyable to watch. We then toured the cathedral, got some final shopping done (encountered a very persistent and ultimately successful shopkeeper in one store), had lunch, and then hit the Barcelona city museum. In the museum we went 65 feat below ground and walked through some excavated Roman ruins. After the museum we went back to the apartment and packed. We finished our sightseeing by checking out the park near our place. Surprisingly, it rained. We have had 3 weeks of near perfect (if hot at times) weather and on last evening it rains??? Spain must be sad to see us leave. Had our anniversary meal at a noodles joint and then headed back for bed. We have to be going about 8:15 AM tomorrow as our flight out is at 11:20 AM. Next time I post it will be from home. Thanks for taking this crazy adventure with us. We appreciate all your comments and support.
