London Day 6
I had not seen Buckingham Palace yet, so I ran down there this morning and said hi to the Queen.
I don’t think you can go to England without having a full English breakfast (eggs, beans, bacon, sausage, blood pudding, and toast). We finally had ours this morning. We wanted to go to this place that was quite famous for their breakfasts, but because it was famous it was quite busy. We looked around and there was another cafe down the street and we thought we would try that. We hit the jackpot! The food was good, there was a lot of it, and it was cheep. We knew it was a good place because a lot of workmen and taxi drivers ate there. After the meat sweats subsided we walked over to Westminster Abbey. The kids and I went in, while Amy explored some more on her own.
The Abbey is quite impressive. I don’t think there is a place anywhere that has more famous people buried in it (Isaac Newton to Queen Elizabeth I to Frederick Handel). We spent a couple of hours there and then met Amy at the Westminster Cathedral, the main Catholic Church in England. It a fairly new building for England, but it is quite impressive. While hanging out there, Ellie and Luke enjoyed feeding the pigeons.
We finished off our touristing for the day by heading over to Southwark and walking around that area. We had a light dinner as we were still full from breakfast. We went back to the hotel and got ready for another evening of theatre. Tonight it was Moulin Rouge.
It was a fun show with a lot of music that I recognized. After the show we got some ice cream and headed back to the hotel.
Tomorrow: Last day in London
